Reviewer: gens shkodra (see more about me) from Geneva, Switzerland
...and this book is well worth every penny. It's not simply a candlestick charts book, but also a very good TA work. It helps a lot in spotting continuation patterns or reversing trends, although I have to say that I'd have prefered that mr Nison provided us with some more candlestick combinations with other TA tools. Trading using candlestick alone can be dangerous.

There's no way a barchart, a HLC, OHLC or any other kind of chart can tell you as much as candlesticks can do. While you can't tell which of the bars were up or down closes by looking at a barchart, a simple glance at the candlesticks could provide you much more information about accurate trade signals. One of the things that struck me the most is the fact that mr Nison explains the psychological and emotional aspects that go with almost every pattern. That's what the chart reading is supposed to be.

Shorting a stock has almost been a taboo for me for a long time, but since I learned to spot "the dark cloud" on strong volume and some other things, I became much more confident with the short side of the market.

This book is for everyone: for the novices, the intermediate, the advanced and professional traders too. This, I think, is a very rare thing to find in a trading book nowadays. Get it, no matter how versed of a trader you are!

The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason
    Book Description
"What can a book written in the 1920s tell modern investors about their finances? A whole lot if it's George Clason's delightful set of parables that explain the basics of money." (Los Angeles Times)

Beloved by millions, this bestselling book reveals the success secrets of the ancients and has been hailed as the greatest inspirational work on the subject of thrift, financial planning, and personal wealth.

    Review:
I often give this book out as a gift whenever a person younger than me asks for my advice on money. I always present this book to them saying "if you read it and do as it says, it will work magic." It really contains excellent, time tested advice, and would make a good gift for someone in their early 20s who is on their own for the first time, and struggling.

The book is a series of parables about money written in the 1920s by George Clason. They were written as individual essays of a few thousand words, but the theme throughout them is consistent -- save 10% of your money, give 10% away, use 10% to reduce your debt load, and live on the remaining 70%.

The stories in the book are entertaining; they are reminiscent of some of the parables in the Bible, such as the Prodigal Son or the story of the Workers in the Vineyard. I think this is intentional on the part of the author; certainly readers in the 1920s had an appreciation for "old fashioned stories with a moral" that people today seem to have lost. I enjoy the book greatly, though, and any thoughtful person who reads the book should find it interesting, especially if they are trying to get their finances in order

How to Make Profits In Commodities by W. D. Gann, Ginny Allery
    Reader Review
A good choice amongst Gann's excellent trading books, October 13, 2003
For those who had not read any other Gann's trading book, this is an excellent choice. I assure you that you would be fascinated by Gann's superb insight and intelligence that had transcended over half a century. Though it focused primarily on commodities, the principles are applicable to stock trading as well. Traders can definitely benefit from them.

For those who had read other Gann's books before, you may feel that this one is quite similar to his previous books (this is Gann's last book published). In fact, the rules set here are over 95% identical with those laid out in "45 Years in Wall Street" Gann published two years before this. However, as one reviewer wrote that the above average price ($49) of this highly valuable book is still lower than one single pip of a commodity futures contract, I think it should still be an essential item in any Gann friend's personal collection.
